A two-mass flywheel or dual-mass flywheel is a rotating mechanical device used to ensure a smooth and continuous transfer of rotational energy in systems where the energy source is not constant, like a traditional single-mass flywheel, but damping uneven changes in speed or torque source that can cause unwanted vibration
Vibration reduction is achieved by storing energy in both masses of a dual-mass flywheel, which is damped by strong springs, after which it is released at a speed compatible with the energy source with much higher force in a relatively short time.
The two-mass flywheel or dual-mass flywheel in the car transfers smooth and continuous energy from the engine crankshaft to the clutch and transmission, thus increasing the level of comfort while driving.
Rattling, engine vibration when stationary (mainly when the engine is cold until the engine warms up), and when accelerating, there are symptoms that indicate that the flywheel is no longer performing its function.
In many cases, people do not pay attention to these defects and continue to use the car.
Failure to rectify the fault in good time often also damages the engine and gearbox suspension as well as the gearbox itself.
Frequent disassembly of the clutch kit and flywheel also reveals a gearbox defect, as vibrations have increased the load on the gearbox's primary axle.
The process of rebuilding a dual-mass flywheel involves complete disassembly and cleaning of the part
When the flywheel is disassembled, it is defected. The defect process determines which surfaces need to be restored and which parts need to be replaced with new ones
All parts that naturally wear out and fray are replaced with new ones in each restoration process, regardless of its condition.
The working surface of the clutch is restored, its condition is checked with an accuracy of up to one hundredth of a millimetre
When the flywheel suspension is replaced, it is supplied with new grease and industrially rolled / welded / riveted
The most important step is taken during the penultimate restoration phase. The flywheel is balanced with the help of a special device designed for balancing dual-mass flywheels. The flywheel is balanced with an accuracy of +/- 3 grams. A new flywheel is also balanced with this precision
When all operations have been performed, the flywheel is subjected to quality control. Once quality control has been performed, the flywheel housing is coated, preserved, labeled and packaged.
Repair costs for flywheels and clutches for heavy commercial vehicles are agreed upon in advance. We offer to buy new flywheels and clutch kits, as well as conversion kits from single-mass flywheel to dual-mass flywheel
SIA PRORING Latvia was founded on November 13, 2013. The company activities are divided into two main areas:
Car service
Production
The mission of car service is to perform quality car repairs according to the standards set out by the manufacturers.
Production workshop is divided into several departments:
Metalworking department - turning / milling / welding / balancing and construction
Industrial washing department - high pressure and ultrasonic washing
Refurbishment Department - flywheel and clutch refurbishment | refurbishment of steering equipment | engine block, head diagnostics and repair
In 2018, we have implemented modernization measures to reduce the amount of hazardous substances used. The measures are implemented with the help and support of the Baltic Environmental Forum from the project "Baltic Pilot Measures to Reduce Emissions of Hazardous Chemicals through Substitution and Resource Efficiency" (LIFE14 ENV / LV / 000174), co-financed by the European Union LIFE Program and Latvian Environmental Protection Fund administration.
SIA PRORING Latvia has concluded contract No. 17.2-5-L-2024/345 on June 17, 2024 with the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia for receiving support for the event "Support for digitization of business processes", within the framework of which a digital transformation solution was introduced, which provides digitization and automation of the company's core business processes.
